Thessalon Healing A Nation Journey

Our mission is to address the legacy of sexual and pysical abuse, resulting from the residential school experience and focusing on the intergenerational impacts and holisitic healing.

HOW HAVE RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS IMPACTED METIS INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS?

-Family Violence                             -Depression

-Substance Abuse                          -Low Self-Esteem

-Loss of Parenting Skills                -Anxiety/Phobias/Panic Attacks

-Self-Destructive Behaviour           -Unhealthy Relationships

-Post Tramatic Stress Disorder     -Lateral Violence

"This kind of violence is how oppressed people show their rage and frustration from being constantly put down.  It usually happens without people knowing that it is part of the cycle of oppression.  The violent acts are directed at our own people rather than at those who have oppressed us.  Lateral violence can include: grossiping, blaming and putting others down, family fueds, jealously, and in fighting with a group or community.  Lateral violence has become a destructive way of life"
